The Webster-Ashburton treaty demonstrated how easily a compromise was made to prevent further war from occurring. Daniel Webster and Lord Ashburton worked together to find a peaceful solution to their boundary disputes and prevented slave trade in Africa. Manifest Destiny was a term used to influence the United States spreading from coast to coast at the time and essentially expand their territory. Since the issue of Oregon was not cover in this treaty, it was resolved later. Therefore, this treaty exposed the ease in settling disputes.
